Citi uses multiple authentication methods to help provide an extra layer of security for certain transactions. The identification code you received is one form of authentication. If you did not request the identification code, or if you have other questions, please contact Customer Service.

Citi will send this unique passcode to your mobile phone by SMS text message. You will need to enter this one-time passcode to confirm your identity. So even if someone knows your card number, the secure online code service will add an extra layer of security to your card transaction.

If we notice suspicious activity, we will contact you by text, email, phone or mail to confirm activity on the account. It's important for your contact information to be up to date so we can reach you promptly. You can recognize Citi's Fraud Early Warning text communications by the short code 95686.
