Harvest Hosts is a community of professional, enterprising winemakers, farmers, museums and other attractions who invite members to visit and park on the business grounds for 24 hours for free.
Harvest Host costs theirHosts nothing but a clean and safe parking space for one, two or even a few RVs.
Of course, depending on the size of the Harvest Host location dictates what size RVs they can accommodate. We’ve found most can accommodate big rig motorhomes and fifth wheels.
Typically, Harvest Hosts are primarily a boondocking venue of no utilities or services. However, as current card-carrying members, we may be surprised with an electric and/or water hookup!
The caveat is while they are welcoming us a place to park for an overnight, we are somewhat expected to show our gratitude by buying a product and/or partaking in a wine tasting or tour of their facility.
Because of their generosity of providing us a safe and quiet place to rest for a night, we always return the gesture by supporting them. We’ll buy farm fresh produce, a unique souvenir, or a bottle of their most prided wine, brew or spirits.
It’s the most recommended way of saying thank you and showing our support of their small business.
Since, staying overnight at countless Harvest Hosts wineries, farms, breweries and even museums, we’ve more than saved money with the Harvest Hosts RV membership!

We just recently joined Hipcamp and we are super excited about joining this incredibly awesome RV membership.
Hipcamp is the most comprehensive resource for unique outdoor stays.
Hipcamp members canbook tent camping, RV parks, cabins, treehouses, and all sorts of glamping opportunities everywhere from national parks to blueberry farms.
This all-inclusive RV membership doesn’t discriminate!
They expect that everyone works to foster a sense of safety and inclusivity while using Hipcamp, regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, political views, religion, national origin, or culture.
This includes Hosts, Hipcampers, and Hipcampers’ guests, too. Using Hipcamp is an agreement to uphold our shared commitment to building resilient communities by fostering a hate-free environment.
Some Hipcamp properties are only accessible via roads that require a 4×4 vehicle, and they want to avoid you overestimating your car’s power and getting stuck. Be aware of road conditions and confer with your Host if necessary.
Also, know that some Hipcamp Hosts don’t recommend using GPS and instead provide detailed directions for how to access their property.
So, read arrival instructions before download their detailed information and your Host’s contact info in advance.
Also, be aware, not every Hipcamp has good cell reception. So, if you rely on good WiFi signal to work or communicate with family, this RV membership may not be a good fit.
In other words, Hipcamp is a great membership to seek unique locations that may be off the beaten path yet in a friendly environment.
Just an FYI, Harvest Hosts, Boondockers Welcome and HipCamp hosts may or may not provide utility services such as electric, water or sewer.
So its required that your RV be totally self-contained with a fully working kitchen and bathroom. In the case of Hipcamp, be respectful of the standards and rules of the membership and the hosts.

Passport America was the our very first RV membership that we joined upon purchasing our first fifth wheel toy hauler in 2014.And we’ve kept it current ever since.
This RV membership is fairly inexpensive but it offers substantial discounts on campgrounds and RV parks with a few stipulations and RV parking limitations (ie. certain days of the week, peak season, etc.).
Passport America’s claim as being the Original & World’s Largest 50% Discount Camping Club for over 1800 participating campgrounds and RV parks.
Our first two overnights using our Passport America paid for our entire yearly membership.
On the Passport America app and website, each participating campground or RV park will list usage criteria.
Once you join, you can download our theirfree mobile appon all devices! The Passport America membership is currently (2021) $44 a year.
And if you prefer, you can get multi-year discounts up to a lifetime membership discount.

The Good Sam Club is an international organization of recreational vehicle owners and the largest organization of RV owners in the world.
It is focused upon making RVing safer and more enjoyable, and to save members money through club-endorsed benefits and services. It states that it has over two million members.
As most RVers call it, Good Sam was another one of our first memberships. We used it toreceive discounts at Camping World.
If you’ve ever been in a Camping World store, you would have noticed there are two prices on each item tag. One is the Club Price and the other is for those who wish to buy without having the Good Sam membership.
Good Sam also offers Roadside Assistance, Extended Service Plans, Insurance, Travel Assist as well as other programs. This club also offers discounts on participating campgrounds in their system.
We realize in writing this that those are just a small handful of RV club memberships out there. When you’re looking for RV memberships, just keep in mind what you’re wanting out of them.

Tips on making the most of RV memberships:
Do your research
Not all RV memberships are going to appeal to everyone or even you.
Whether they are campground memberships or community based, just see if they meet your objectives and criteria. There’s no sense joining a campground or RV park based membership if you’re not interested in those types of venues.
Personally, we’re not apt to join ‘lifetime’ memberships because club or membership rules and criteria can change and not meet our expectations later.
Buy only the RV club memberships that you really need
We’ve found that a lot of RV memberships replicate each other; especially those offering discounts. Find a few that are niched to your RV or camping style.
Don’t let your RV memberships lapse
We’ve had this happen to us twice. I thought I had them paid but oops! Now, all of our RV club memberships are in our automatic bill pay through our financial institution.
Our mailing center will send our new membership cards to us when we reach a location where we can receive mail.
Cancel RV memberships that you don’t need
Did you trade your motorhome in for a truck camper? Or do you want to check out a different venue of campgrounds?
Just cancel them or allow the membership to just expire so you don’t pay for something you just don’t need.
